Community Jane's Walk - The Fabulous '50s in Spruce Ave

When: Friday May 1, 7:00-8:30pm

Where: Meet at the SACL Hall by the big mural, 11507 103 St NW

Details: Join us for our 12th annual Jane’s Walk, this year to celebrate 75 years of SACL (1951-2026).

Edmonton Jane's Walk weekend returns May 1-4, 2025. Spruce Avenue is excited to be participating for the 12th year.

This year's walk will commemorate 75 years of our community league, by focusing on community stories from the 1950s. Get out your poodle skirt, cardigan and fedora - and your walking shoes and water bottle. Remember the walk goes rain or shine!

Jane's Walk is a world-wide festival of free, citizen-led walks encouraging people to share community stories and use walking as a way to connect with neighbours.

Visit janewalksyeg.wordpress.com for info on all Edmonton walks.

Please note: All Spruce Ave residents with green & white house history signs, please make sure they are out for display starting the end week of April. We just might pass by and share some history on our walk!

If you are interested in supporting 75th anniversary events through 2026, please reach out to spruceavehistory@gmail.com.

75th Anniversary Planning Committee

2026 is the 75th Anniversary of our community league!

Preparations are starting about how we might wish to celebrate this major milestone for the community, including possible programs, events or hall projects.

If you are interested in sharing your ideas and your volunteer time/talents in organizing and delivering project ideas, please connect with SACL's Secretary, Wesley at secretary@spruceavenuecommunity.com.

We invite you to join our next monthly meeting on Sat Apr 18, 2026 10:30am – 11:30am (online)

Even if you can't attend the meeting, we'd love to hear from you and understand how you could get involved!  -- Remember that all SACL operations and programs are 100% volunteer powered.

We need YOU to help Spruce Ave celebrate our big #75!

Community Garden Update

Exciting things are growing in Spruce Avenue! Planning is underway for the revival of our community garden—a shared space where residents can grow fresh produce, connect with neighbours, and enjoy the outdoors.

We need your help! The community league has partnered with NAIT students to redesign the garden, and we’re looking for volunteers to help bring the space to life. Work dates are still to be confirmed, but if you’re interested in getting your hands dirty, please email dal1@spruceavenuecommunity.com

More information on garden rentals will be available soon.

Outdoor Rink Program (ODR-Core)

We are pleased to report we held a successful learn to skate program at the Spruce Avenue Community Rink. This free program for children 6 years of age to 12 years was financially supported by Hockey Alberta under their ‘Every Kid Every Community Grant’ funding. With their ongoing support we were able to provide the program for the 5th consecutive year. We look forward to holding it again this winter. Registration information will become available in October/November.
