Low Impact Development (LID) update
Near the school and community league a Low Impact Development project was started to help manage the rainwater (learn more on Epcor’s website
The planned underground work has been completed. However, due to current weather conditions, the planting component of the project has been deferred and will be completed next spring when conditions are suitable.
For safety during the winter months, the area will be fully fenced off to protect pedestrians.
Temporary asphalt in the sidewalk area directly in front of the construction site has been installed. This temporary asphalt will be removed in the spring, and a final concrete pour will be completed to restore the sidewalk.
The contractor will inspect the site weekly throughout the winter to ensure the security and integrity of the fencing.

118 Avenue Traffic Speed
Alberta Avenue is exploring pushing for a reduction in traffic speed on 118 avenue from 50 km/hr to 40km/hr from 82 street to 106 street.
118 Avenue is quite congested, with people getting in out of parked cars and all-too-often crossing at mid-block, particularly where the streets to the south and north of 118 Avenue don't line up very well. As a result, this stretch of roadway can be quite hazardous and has seen more than its share of accidents.
In many respects this area is similar to Whyte Avenue or Jasper Avenue, where the traffic speed has already been reduced to 40 km/hr. It's odd that it didn't happen here at the same time.
We would very much like to hear what Spruce Avenue Residents have to say as well.
Email: civicsdirector@spruceavenuecommunity.com with any feedback or thoughts on the matter.
NiGiNan Housing Ventures- Spruce Avenue Site
The Community League continues to be in discussion with the providers planned for the corner of 106 street and 112 avenue site and are trying to arrange an information session for neighbours. There is no update yet, but you can stay informed on the City of Edmonton Website
